EPITAPH BY THE LUCID DREAM

EPITAPH BY THE LUCID DREAM

We'd been waiting for this for some time.

Compulsion Songs is the third album from Carlisle's The Lucid Dream and sees them continue to plough their idiosyncratic furrow. They are uncategorisable - not that this writer cares much for pigeon-holes anyway - and more power to their elbow for that. They embody diverse and that makes them exciting and therefore also to be lauded. There is all sorts going on in this collection of seven tracks.

Only seven? Isn't that more of an EP? Well no, dear reader, it is not. The album weighs in at 44 minutes despite that and over a quarter of it is taken up with the two-part opus which closes it out. Penultimate track Nadir morphs into the astonishing 11-minuter Epitaph which we feature here. It's krautrockish, cosmic, psych.... it's whatever you want it to be.

Compulsion Songs is out now. Norman Records will sort you out. Follow them @TheLucidDreamUK
