NORTHERN SUBURBS BY LAST QUOKKA

The most remote city on earth could be a cultural desert. Fortunately for us all, it isn't.

And one of the noisiest exports of Perth in Western Australia are Last Quokka. It's DIY proto-punk with left-leaning political sensibilities - avowedly anti-fascist - which is pretty much all it takes for us to take notice. But for that, they told Pile Rats "We are politically minded, and although we all take great issue with the current state of the world, our ethos is about positivity, DIY, making change and improving our local community for the better."

Citing Fugazi, Warsaw and Eddie Current Suppression Ring as influences as well as the proto-punk scene of the 1960s, they're debut LP - self-titled - came out in October. 7 tracks, it's well worth your time.

From upcoming Last Quokka self titled EP. Recorded by Last Quokka and Tristan Dudley. Mixed and mastered by Tristan Dudley.
