TROUBLE BY GIRL RAY

TROUBLE BY GIRL RAY

Trouble is the debut single by north London trio Girl Ray, released on the ever-reliable Moshi Moshi label on November 25 as part of their Singles Club series.

The song is about “apathy and hating yourself for trying to win pointless arguments in snakey ways,” say the band. “It’s about turning into someone you don't like.”
Girl Ray are Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell and Sophie Moss. They deal in fuzzy Moldy Peaches–esque pop gems; shaping a love of off-kilter pop bands like Neutral Milk Hotel, Pavement and Cate Le Bon into a sound that feels instantly familiar and completely lovable.
Something of a throwback to good old-fashioned pop, of with which there is bugger all wrong.
